I don't know why people who live in Maine complain about the snow SO often. Must I remind you that you do live in Maine? Not to mention, this year we have had a great winter, with very little snow! I don't mind it, as long as I don't have anywhere to go. It comes with living where I do, and I'm always going to be a Mainer :)
We did have to go to my eye appointment this morning, but it wasn't snowing too much. It started to get heavier when we left. We grabbed dad a coffee, and I went into his work and brought him that and a box of cookies I made. Then we headed home. Makenzie stayed with Mom and played with the kids while we were gone. Turns out that my perscription for my contacts was too strong, so they lowered the power, and so far they seem to be better. When I use the computer with them on, I have a hard time focusing still, but only at times, where before it was all the time. Hopefully I just need to get used to them. I have another appointment in three weeks, and I scheduled an appointment for Makenzie the same day...her first one!
Anyway, Makenzie has been great. Still a little peanut, but she always will be I think. She is beyond hilarious and has the best personality! She's always singing and dancing (especially dancing!), and is always smiling. She loves waving and still gets a crazy amount of attention no matter where we go. Even people who don't stop to say hi, I can hear saying how cute she is. Honestly, shopping can be awkward at times because of it, but she's a people magnet I guess haha. She still isn't a fan of many solids. We try still, and try pretty much anything and everything. She does really good with chewing and all that, it's just that when we give her food, she usually throws it lol. I don't want to stop breastfeeding til she's eating three meals and doing well with them (as in EATING all of it). When she does eat though, she does SUCH a good job with her spoon or fork! She knows exactly what to do, and does NOT want my help with eating! She also has been learning lots of new words, and plays with her toys for longer periods of time. Last night, she put all the shapes where they go on her ladybug toy. She is such a smart cookie, I say it all the time, but she really is! I've been saying I'm going to schedule her a doctors appointment for a weight check just to see how she's doing. I just worry where she won't always eat solids, that she's not gaining enough weight. I also want to see if there are prescription medications for babies with gas. She gets such awful gas sometimes that she gets hysterical, and OTC gas drops have never worked all that well for her. We shall see!
I bought a new lens for my camera the other day. I kept trying to think of something I wanted to buy for myself, and I had the hardest time coming up with anything. I spend so much on Makenzie all the time, and usually feel like there's nothing I really need or want. I didn't need the lens, but I did want it :) Plus, it didn't cost an ungodly amount. I'm excited to try it out. I have been trying to figure out Photoshop more, but it's still pretty confusing to me. I can't wait til I understand it better. I bought some actions for it, and I don't even know what I'm doing totally with those, I have a general idea, and love them. I feel like I spend a lot of money on something that is just a hobby of mine, but I think it's worth it. I have fun doing it, and will be happy if when we decide to have another, I can take pictures that look just as good as a professionals myself :)
OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the contest Michelle entered. She entered a local radio station contest to win tickets for the 2012 Country Mega Ticket and WON! She randomly heard about the contest on the radio. I've ridden in the car with her many times before of course, and she is always changing the station, so it's awesome that she heard about it and was able to enter! For the contest, you had to take a picture of yourself at the Bangor Waterfront. She told me about it, and we came up with ideas of what she could do that we thought would be original and help her win. She bought the "props" from iParty (or some party store, I'm not sure): a red carpet, two huge tickets, and a VIP sign. She made a poster and put Kenzie's picture on it, then it says "We love 97.1 The Bear!" And as you can see, she dressed as country as she could :) She sent me the pictures and asked which to use, and I put them together on Picnik and added the caption "Help send me & my niece to our first concert! WE WANT THE MEGATICKET!" The pictures were due by the next morning at 7 am. I thought hers was the best the whole time, as it was the one with the most creativity behind it. I listened to the radio the next morning, and finally around 8, they said they were going to announce the winner. They SAID they were drawing a name from all the qualifiers, which I'm not sure they really did, or just said they were going to and chose their favorite, because I know at least with my luck, being one of eleven qualifiers in a drawing, there's no way my name would get drawn! I think they just have to say they're doing a drawing, but just went with their favorite. Who knows, either way...Michelle won! When they said they were drawing a name, I was completely bummed. I even messaged Michelle, who I was talking to on FB, and told her, "Oh, nevermind. Anyone who did a picture gets put into this drawing..." and literally 5 seconds later, my message to her was, "YOU WON!!!!" Lol, I know I confused the heck out of her, and the fact that she just woke up and was laying in bed didn't help. But she won! I told her to call, and said I think she has to before 9, so she did right away, and they told her she could pick them up at 10! She said since I helped her, she would take me with her. I am SO excited! There are three concerts, all on different days. The first one is Rascal Flatts, Eli Young Band, Little Big Town, and Eden's Edge. The second is Keith Urban and David Nail. The last is Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan, who happen to be my two favorites, so I'm especially excited for that one! That one also says "special guest". I googled to try to see who's touring with them, and I got a lot on Lauren Alaina from American Idol, so I'm thinking it might be her. But yeah, Michelle was excited to win, and I was so excited to, and am looking forward to it! :)
