Thanks to Crowdtap, I was once again given the opportunity to host a party. This time around, it was for Grill Mates. The kit I received came with the following products: Spiced Brandy and Herb Marinade, Memphis Pit BBQ Rub, Molasses Bacon Seasoning, Montreal Steak Seasoning, Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Sauce, and a Grill Ambassadors booklet. I was excited to be chosen to host this party, because the weather had finally been warming up here in Maine, and we love to BBQ!
We planned to have our BBQ at my sisters and brother-in-laws house, because our grill is pretty small, and it made more sense to use a big one. We planned to provide all the food. We kept it fairly low key, with a bunch of close family, and I invited a couple close friends. My friends couldn't make it, but we still had ten of us there, which was perfect. It was myself, my sisters, their boyfriends/husbands, our mom, and all our kids.
I opened the shades when I woke up the morning of my party. The weather had been saying 75* and completely sunny, so it sounded like the perfect day for a BBQ to me! When I looked out, I thought for sure it was going to rain! It looked pretty dreary out there. We got ready and got everything together anyway, and I was hoping the weather man was right with his predictions, and that it'd clear up!
It was still pretty crappy looking out when we arrived at my sisters. A few of us weren't there yet, so we just hung out and let the kids play for a bit. When we knew the others were on their way, we started up the grill. We let the guys do the cooking, while we went inside and prepared everything else and set it out on the counters. We were in and out of the house, and every time we went outside, if I'd see the food cooking, my mouth would water. It looked so good! We had used a little bit of everything, since everyone was willing to try whatever. Even as picky as I am, I was willing to try it all. :)
Amazingly enough, by the time the food was ready for eating, the sun came out, and it turned into a really nice day! We had been debating whether to eat indoors or outdoors, but thanks to the sun making an appearance just in the nick of time, we chose outside. A BBQ just doesn't feel the same when you eat inside!
The food was amazing! We used most of the Grill Mate's products we received, other than the Memphis Pit BBQ rub. We plan to use those for our next get together! For this one, we went with hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken. My favorite was the Spiced Brandy and Herb Marinade chicken. Others favorites were Montreal Steak seasoning and Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Sauce.
There was a lot of talk after about how good the food was, and how the Grill Mate's products gave it the extra kick it needed. They are definitely products I would recommend, and even better- they are affordable!
The kids had an absolute blast playing throughout the whole BBQ. They all love to spend time outside, and I'm so happy the weather cleared up so that we could all really enjoy it.
